Donut Fridays
If you have ever been to the shop on a Friday morning, you’ll notice a large group of young adults hanging out, sharing stories, playing games, and of course, eating donuts.
How did Donut Friday come to fruition you may ask.
Before the pandemic happened and while Joey was still in school, we were all at the shop one day and one of our team suggested that we do donuts Friday for the team. Every Friday we would get donuts from a different local donut shop and have a Friday meeting.
Not long after, I had an idea, why not invite all the amazing kiddos from Peninsula and Gig Harbor CTP and ET&T classes to come in for donuts? We reached out to Wendy Christianson at Peninsula and within a week, the new and improved “Donut Friday” had begun. Every Friday we stop at a different local donut shop and grab 5+ dozen donuts.
Around 8:15, the students start rolling in. They laugh and joke with each other, tell stories about their weeks, play games and enjoy a yummy treat. This tradition has continued through the pandemic, even though we had to stop for a while, but it continues to this day. Joey and the whole Kimballs team look forward to Fridays. If you're ever out and about on a Friday morning between 8 and 9 am, we invite you to come on in, say hello to all the kiddos, and experience the joy that we all get to see.
